Hockey..the New Memphis Sport

The cold has its perks. I would have never imagined skating at our Chickasaw Gardens Lake today, but, it has been so cold in Memphis over the past week that the ice was frozen solid! Although we had no ice skates (our neighbors Corrie and Newt had theirs), hockey sticks were made readily available to all the kids. A professional hockey player (where did he come from?) was out on the ice teaching the kids how to support the puck. Lloyd and I agree that this was a day worth remembering. I’m in the market for size 7 ice skates!

Birth-ah-versary

Lloyd and I were married on my birthday. When we marched out to the tune of “Happy Birthday”, I loved it! I thought that there would be no better way to celebrate the day of my birth by marrying the man I love. However, early on, we both realized that cramming in both a birthday and an anniversary celebration into one 24 hour period is a little difficult (Lloyd keeps mumbling about “pressure” and “financial ruin”…). Do we sing happy birthday? Do we blow out nine candles for our nine years, or thirty-something (and counting)? Not to mention our children’s confusion with the term “birth-ah-versary”. Ah well, the timing doesn’t matter. What does matter, remains. And that is, we are happy, healthy, and thankful for every day, no matter how confused we may appear.
