Fishy Formulas (5.29.11)

Rule #5.  Fish are estimated in size by the following formula (All measurements in inches.  In the event of a break-off or release, the judges may estimate measurements):  (Girth x Girth x Length)/800= Weight in pounds

Rule #9.  Daily points:

First fish of the day- 2 points

Each additional fish-1 point

First table fish of the day- 2 bonus points

Biggest fish of the day- 4 bonus points

"Sportsman"- 5 points (Release any fish that is not eaten or used for bait.  Assists fellow anglers with baiting, tying knots, and untangling lines.  Is courteous at all times and immediately obeys orders and instructions from adults without arguing).  

"First Mate"- 5 points (Helps the Captain and crew by keeping fishing areas safe and clean, washes decks after fish is boated, helps clean fish, demonstrates proper knife safety and sharpening techniques, removes hooks.  First to spot feeding birds, schooling fish, and grass lines.)

After Day #1, the following points are awarded:

Iain caught the first fish (which happened to be the biggest) and an additional one in this picture (for a total of 7 points).  Ari received first mate points (5 points).  Harrison caught one (1 point), and Grayson won sportsman points with her assistance of Iain’s catch (5 points).
